The Cost of Ignoring Your Body’s Warning Signs (Learn From My Mistakes!)

I Thought I Was Invincible… Until My Body Said Otherwise

Let me take you back to a time when I thought I could outwork anything. Pain? That was just part of the process. Fatigue? Nothing a strong cup of coffee couldn’t fix. I lived for the grind, pushing my body to the limit, day after day.

I spent six, sometimes seven, days a week in the gym. My workouts were brutal—CrossFit classes, extra conditioning, lifting programs. I was determined to burn 1,000 calories a session. It wasn’t just a workout; it was a mission. And I convinced myself that more was always better.

Then the aches started. A little discomfort in my right knee. Nothing major. I brushed it off and kept going. A few weeks later, that discomfort turned into a sharp pain. Soon after, I started feeling tightness in my hip. And then, every time I walked, my right foot rolled inward just a little too much.

One by one, the issues stacked up. A small meniscus tear. A hip impingement. Pronation in my foot. It was like my whole right side was screaming at me, begging me to slow down. But I didn’t listen. I pushed through because that’s what I had always done.

The Big Mistake: Ignoring the Signs

I told myself I was just being tough. That this was what it took to be strong. Pain was normal. Discomfort was a badge of honor. I had trained my body to endure, but I hadn’t trained myself to listen.

Fast forward five years, and now, with a doctorate and a deep understanding of pelvic health, I see my mistakes so clearly. I had neglected the basics—mobility, recovery, true strength building. I ignored my body’s signals, dismissing them as inconvenient rather than recognizing them as warnings.

And here’s the truth: those little whispers from your body? They don’t go away. They get louder. They turn into injuries, chronic pain, and limitations you never thought you’d have.

Don’t Make the Same Mistake I Did

If I could go back, I would listen. I would warm up properly. I would engage my core the right way. I would let myself rest when my body needed it. I wouldn’t wait until the pain became something I could no longer ignore.

So, if you’re experiencing any of these signs, don’t push them aside:

  • Rushing to the restroom to avoid leakage

  • Struggling with constipation, bearing down harder than you should

  • Sharp pain during or after sex

  • A menstrual cycle that comes and goes unpredictably

  • Leaking when you sneeze, jump, or laugh

These things don’t just “happen.” They are signals that something needs attention. And just like my knee was the first domino to fall, these small signs can turn into much bigger issues if you ignore them.

Your Body Deserves to Be Heard

I get it. I really do. It’s easier to push through. It’s easier to believe that this is just part of getting older or being active or having kids. But ignoring your body now won’t make the problem go away. It only makes the recovery harder later.

So, {{contact.first_name}}, here’s my message to you: Listen to your body the way I wish I had listened to mine. You don’t have to wait until things get worse. You don’t have to do this alone.

If you’re experiencing any of these signs, let’s talk. I want to help you heal before the whispers turn into screams. Because you deserve to move, to feel strong, to live without pain, and it starts with paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you.
